Laugh at the Devil

Am I faultless?

When I was young, I realized how I should treat the Devil. At the age of 4-6(ish), I was swinging in the playground in my lawn. I was having a dandy time just talking to myself, and singing random songs. I somehow got on the subject of the Devil. Connecting my foolish disrespectful nature of my youth with the immature knowledge of the Devil, I conjured up a ditsey song about how stupid Satan was. Somehow my mother was listening (I swear my mom can sense a blasphemy a mile away), and rebuked my actions. I was so glad she did, because I was still too young to be in a relationship with God. If I were to continue that mind-set, I just might make Satan mad enough to do something hasty.

The Devil...What is he?

The blood-colored reptilian monstrosity isn't exactly what people may view as glorious, majestic, or beautiful.  Today's culture portrays Satan as some gross creepy entity that walks around in Hell, inflicting pain on people who just didn't make it into Heaven.  If that were the case, however, things would be easier for the people still alive.  The prevalent misapprehension of this entity is probably one of his strongest holds on humanity.

The majority of people who know of what the Devil is, most likely have a misconception of what he actually is.  Would people honestly believe that he was wrought with the finger of God to basically be second in command?  Powerful and magnificent was his origin, yet powerful and magnificent was his fall α.  Lucifer, Satan's first title, was made for the purpose of serving God like all of God's creation β.  He was the orchestrator of praises to God.  But like all skills, they can be used for the purpose of construction or disedification.  Now he orchestrates the destruction and misleading of all mortals γ.

Job: Blessed and Hurt in God's will

An strong example of how Satan can effect our lives lies within the Book of Job. Job, one of the faithful servants of God, was directly afflicted by the finger of Satan. Although one might think that he was unfairly mutilated, God always had his future in mind. Through God's sovereign will, Job was replenished for the evils burdened on him.

Satan may roam this earth and hurt us, but through God, we will be able to resist him and his plots for our destruction. We don't have the power to rebuke Satan, but the Lord rebukes him for us ζ. We must remember that when we resist him, we don't ever disrespect him. He is of a higher power than we are η. Just remember, if you were to ever fall out of a relationship with the Lord, would the Devil just turn the other cheek, or take advantage of every moment to "get back at you" during your times of vulnerability? Job didn't curse the Devil throughout his entire affliction. He gave the Devil respect, but to God, even more. ε

The Devil... Why respect him?!

Luckily for those who have let the Holy Ghost into our lives. We now know a power that can and will help us resist the Devil and his schemes δ. But with the freedom of Christ, also came the folly of discourtesy to the second most powerful being in existence. Would you honestly spit in your teacher's face if your father was the principal? If you would, then you should see the school counselor. But don't spit in her face either. Christians will sometimes think they have a safety bubble from all things demonic around them. Which they do. But would you like to through rocks at a lion in the zoo? Just because they can't get you doesn't mean you should.

Although I have given some opinion examples, I haven't shown solid biblical supporting details. Running through history, Job could be seen as someone directly scourged by the Devil. However, he didn't disrespect the Devil in any way. He knew that whatever happened to him was allowed by God ε. So cursing the Devil would be pointless, vain, and stupid. Another Example was when Michael, the archangelic leader of God's army, wouldn't even rebuke Satan. While arguing about Moses, Michael stated, "The Lord rebuke you." Indicating that even the strongest of Angels can't make light of Satan. If you take the verse in context, it is even more enlightening. (Jude 1:8-10) "In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, 'The Lord rebuke you!' Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals—these are the very things that destroy them." These words need to be chiseled in our conscience. The next time you think of irreverencing Satan, think about his authority and placement in this universe before and after his fall.

Although we are safe from Satan's crafty finger, we shouldn't take that peace for granted. Never worship him, just esteem what is due to him. Because this world is still ruled by him θ.

People cover your ears once you hear "You Sunnuv a". I wouldn't want to burn you ears with this vulgarity.
